Thiago started jiu-jitsu at twenty-one, late by competitor standards, and had his black belt within six years. He competes at 76 kg on a game built around leg attacks, and took the World No-Gi title in 2014.
In 2012 he and Gabriel Rollo opened a gym of their own in Santos. It became The House FC.
